Did you know there are over 200 community gardens across metro Atlanta? Each year, we work to support as many of them as possible through volunteer efforts, grant funding, and compost deliveries.

Whether you're looking to join a garden or just get more involved, we've created this page to help you find a garden near you and included some helpful tips and things to know before you get started.

Tips for Joining a Community Garden

  • Community garden plots fill up fast! Many gardens fill their plots in early spring. The sooner you reach out, the more likely you are to get a spot near your home.

  • Expect a small fee. Most community gardens charge a seasonal rental fee. While they’re usually run by volunteers, the fee helps cover the costs for water, tools, and maintenance.

  • Bring your own gloves and equipment. While some gardens have shared tools, it’s important come prepared. Things like gloves, a trowel, a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable container for water will come in very handy!

  • Sometimes, the best way to join is to ask someone at the garden. Contact information for community gardens can quickly become outdated. If you're nearby, don’t be afraid to approach someone already gardening there. They’ll often be your best source of info.
