As part of Georgia Plant 2 Plate–led by Wholesome Wave Georgia and Food Well Alliance–households on SNAP can receive 50% off local fruit and vegetable plants with EBT. The program began in April 2020 in response to Georgians on SNAP facing limited shopping options for fresh local food during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each purchase also includes a FREE gardening kit and a link to the Plant Care Guide with information on how to grow healthy food at home! Check out our guides for each veggie plant below or download the full guide. Use the hashtag #GeorgiaPlant2Plate to share your fruit and veggie plants with us on social media!

How it works

Only Georgians on SNAP benefits are eligible to participate.

  1. Visit a participating Georgia Fresh For Less partner farm or market on a designated date (see upcoming events below).

  2. Swipe your EBT card to buy 50% off local fruit and vegetable plant starts and seedlings.

  3. Purchase at least three plant starts with EBT to collect a free gardening kit including pots, soil, gloves, trowels, and plant care guides.

  4. Take everything home and start your container garden!
