Children's storytelling, composting, gardening and black solider fly care: Workshops featured at Soil Festival 2017

Soil Festival 2017: Healthy Soil, Healthy Food is tomorrow! We are so excited to bring gardeners and the local food community together for our third annual Soil Festival.

Soil Festival 2017 is a free event and will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Truly Living Well’s Collegetown Farm and will kick off International Compost Awareness (May 7-13).

This year's event will raise awareness of the benefits of using compost to improve and maintain high quality soil, and to grow healthy food.

Since the event will be on a farm, make sure to dress accordingly, and be ready to learn about compost and gardening during various workshops throughout the day.

There will also be a chance to taste local food with an assortment of refreshments prepared by our caterer 2 Pieces of Toast. Make sure to also stop by the local food artisan taster tables, which will be showcasing amazing local foodies, chefs and marketers providing delicious treats.

Don't forget we will have 200 small bags of organic compost to give away, and gardeners who attend the event can also register for a chance to have a cubic yard compost delivered to their community or school garden (that's more than 1,000 pounds of organic compost!). There will also be complimentary soil testing throughout the day too!

We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 6 for what will be a true community event. Come out with your fellow garden members, family, friends and neighbors to learn how each of us can help to preserve soil and continue growing healthier communities at Soil Festival.

Check out the workshops and instructors who will be featured during Soil Festival 2017!
